Supplies for a scarecrow

1 – 2″ x 3″ x 8′ board  (cut off 16 inches)

We found everything, even the pumpkin at Lowe’s! ( I already had raffia at home)

Cut an 8′ piece of burlap and fold in half. Sew along each side, allowing about 8 inches open at the top fold on each side.

Measure pumpkin height and subtract 2 inches. Ours was 12 inches so we measured down 10 inches on our board and drilled a hole for the dowel rod to slip through.

Place burlap over the frame, make a slit in the center of the fold for the board to slip through. Tie raffia on each end of dowel and around the ‘waist’ of the scarecrow.

Cut a small hole in the bottom of the pumpkin to remove the insides and carve away!

We even drilled a hold in the board for a battery operated tea light to fit. Place pumpkin on board.

A fabulous scarecrow at day or night!
