Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous

hi! my name is linda and i’m a craft addict. {for reals. just ask my hubby, Davis} i’m the girl behind Craftaholics Anonymous a site brimming with crafts, home decor, DIY, tutorials, and holiday decorating! my crafting philosophy is: Crafting doesn’t have to be expensive, just CREATIVE!

well i am just so happy to be participating in this fab event! so many AWESOME projects have been shared already. wow! i’m so excited for holidays to get here! {but not too fast. i have waaaay to many gifts to make still!}

today i’m going to share with you how to make super cute bows to add to your “Gift in a Jar” gifts this year. Gifts in a Jar are great {who doesn’t love a great mason jar, right??} but its always fun to spice things up and make them even cuter.

with bows all the rage right now, these are sure to be a hit with your neighbors, friends, and co-workers!

{note: i filled my gift jars with Hot Cinnamon Milk mix. which is DIVINE. you have to try it! love at first sip. promise. you can get my recipe here.}

These are super easy to make. PLUS you can even use your scraps to make them. sweet!

Supplies

  • fabric
  • scissors
  • and that trusty sewing machine!
  • TEMPLATE {Click to view the bow template. Print on 1 sheet of paper. Pattern should be approx 10.5 inches long by 2 inches wide.}
for each bow, cut 4 pattern pieces using the template.
take 2 pieces and with right sides together sew together using 1/2″ inseam. leave small end open.
*leave the small end of the pattern open so you can turn it right side out later*
when sewing around the curved portion of the fabric, go slowly so you can get a nice rounded seam.
next, make small cuts into the fabric about 1/4″ apart around the curved portion. DO NOT cut the thread!
REPEAT above steps with the remaining 2 pattern pieces.
using a dowel or blunt scissors, turn right side out and iron flat.
take one side and tuck in the unfinished seam about 1/4″
insert the raw edges of the other side into the opening.
so that it looks like this.
sew shut.
then fold over that same seam….
and sew across it.
And that’s it! This template works with all regular mouth glass jars.
just add a gift tag and your jar is ready to go!
*and don’t forget the Hot Cinnamon Milk recipe to complete the gift! {this is SO delish! it’s like eggnog, but without the eggs and a lot less calories!}
happy {holiday} crafting!

  1. this is such a good creation it looks so beautiful me and my cousins were trying to find bows online and we wanted to make some homemade ones and this design looks so great we might just make it. thanks for the idea.

  2. To make fabric bows for a wide-mouth jar, cut the fabric strips 12 inches long (rather than 10½ inches).
