History Behind May Day Baskets

In some areas of the United States, May Baskets are made for May Day, a celebration of Spring. May Day Baskets are small baskets usually filled with flowers and candy that are  left at someone’s doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away. We call it the ding and dash at our house!

Making May Day Baskets

Once again this year we have had a late frost so finding fresh flowers in our yard was not an option. We decided poted flowers would have to do. These jiffy containers along with some 18 gauge wire made perfect baskets for potted flowers.

  1. oh goodness I usually always share a template, but this time I didn’t. It is about a 2 to 3″ strip of paper with a slight curve.

  2. Did you make a template for the paper that goes around the pot? If so would you share? TIA
