How to make Coconut Oil Whipped Body Butter

This whipped body butter couldn’t be any easier! It only has two ingredients.  So grab some coconut oil from the grocery store and some essential oils and you are ready to whip up a wonderful body lotion!

Coconut Oil and Lavender Body Butter

I love to use coconut oil as a moisturizer, but don’t like how hard it gets making it impossible to get from the jar.  Whipping the coconut oil makes it a great consistency.  Scoop the coconut oil into a mixing bowl. Do not melt! You need it to be solid to whip.  Whip a few minutes then add in about 20 drops of your favorite essential oil.  I love lavender. Sometimes I also add in 5 drops each of lemon and frankincense along with the lavender. Adjust the oil for your personal tastes. You might start with only 10 drops of lavender and go from there. Continue whipping the coconut oil until it is fluffy.  Place the whipped coconut oil into a jar (I found mine at the grocery store) and add the label.

Print the label on sticker paper in color. Attach to the jar and cover label with clear packing tape to protect it.

  1. Hi Alex,

Mine seemed to stay whipped enough that I could get a scoop out of the jar. It does harden a bit but it is better than if it had never been whipped. Once it hits your skin though it melts wonderfully.

  2. I tried a recipe, almost exactly like this, although it hardened up. I suppsose this is because of the coconut oil, do you know any ways to keep it in a pastey texture?
