I’m Jen from PinkWhen, and I am excited to be sharing this craft today with all of you Skip to my Lou fans! This is a fun Memory Keeping Craft, and it is a perfect project for you and the little one this Summer.
I love crafts like these. Our kids grow up so fast, and I am always trying to slow down time with mine. While controlling the aspect of time is totally out of control, I can help make time stand still by creating a fun craft like this to remember our fun Summer of 2014. This is also a perfect gift for the grandparents.
To create this Memory Keeping Craft, you are going to need a few supplies:
- 8 x 10 canvas
- colored paints
- baker’s twine or string of some sort
- glue
- little embellishments (I grabbed a package of burlap bows)
- foam sponge and paint brush
- painters markers or other permanent pen
- Aleene’s Tacky Magnetic Adhesive Tape (optional)
Step 1: Gather all of your supplies together for easy access and prepare to have some fun. My daughter had such a good time with this project, and it is a parent + child project for sure. We poured our paints on a plate, gathered all of our other supplies, and got ready to have some fun.
Step 2: Summer this year has been fun, and all about balloons for us. To get things going, we took our baker’s twine and cut several strips. We then glued just the tips of the twine to the canvas.
Step 3: After our twine for the balloons was secure, we grabbed our foam brush and started playing with the paints. One little dab into the paint, and then to the canvas. I then placed the canvas under a fan for a few minutes to allow the glue and paint to full dry.
Step 4: Once the paint was dry, I tied the the twine together to make our little bouquet of balloons, and added the little burlap bows.
Step 5: Now was time for the fun stuff! I took an extra paintbrush and painted some paint onto the little one’s hands.
(Watch out for the squirmy giggles since the brush bristles tickle!) Carefully place the hands onto the canvas and then promptly take the little one to the sink (or else!).
Step 6: After the hand prints are dry, grab the fun painters markers. I loved the bright colors, and you know I am a big fan of PINK!
Step 7: You can place anything here that you prefer, but since this is a Memory Craft, I wanted to make it special for the Summer of 2014, and then add her name on to the bottom.
Step 8: This is optional, but I LOVE it. I grabbed some Aleene’s tacky magnetic tape to make this project magnetic for our fridge.
Step 9: Cut a couple of strips of the magnetic tape, pull off the backing, and then firmly press to the back of your canvas. So simple.
Step 10: Now you are ready to display your project!
I hope you enjoyed this fun and simple Memory Making Craft, and I am so excited to have been invited to participate in Craft Camp!
