I am so excited to be visiting from The NY Melrose Family.  The holidays are right around corner and it can be so busy that it becomes difficult to remember everyone on your list.  I have a fascination with creating the perfect Mason Jar Gifts.  There’s just something about putting a fun treat into a mason jar.  I usually create gifts centered around snowmen, but I decided to change it up with these Reindeer Noses.  They are cute and delicious all in one little ole jar!

Reindeer Noses Mason Jar Gift Idea

This time of year is doubly busy for us because my daughter and I share our birthdays at the beginning of the month so I have tendency to want to throw a gorgeous themed party.  I did a better job this year of tackling projects early.  Although, my daughter was definitely confused as to the holiday that was just around the corner.  She didn’t quite understand why I was making Melted Snowman Popcorn the week before Halloween, but she didn’t throw much of a fuss because she got to be my taste tester and who doesn’t love popcorn that involves white chocolate, pretzels and assorted candies?!

Reindeer Noses Cake Balls

These Reindeer Noses cake balls were also kids tested and approved.  They are easy to make and include minimal ingredients. To make the cake balls I used the same recipe that I use for my cake pop tutorial.  It’s easy because you can use a box of cake mix and a can of frosting.  It doesn’t get much easier than that.  Plus, I have the free printable Reindeer Noses Gift Tags that you can grab here.  So hop on over to print your free copy of the tags.

Reindeer Noses Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Betty Crocker Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Pillsbury Vanilla Icing
  • Red & Brown Wilton Candy Melts

Directions

  • Bake the chocolate cake mix according to the directions on the box and let cool.
  • Once the cake is cool crumble the cake mix with your hands in a large mixing bowl so that the entire cake is crumbled.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of Pillsbury Vanilla Icing to the crumbled cake and mix with your hands.  You want the consistency to still be a bit crumbly, but able to mold into a ball and hold the shape.
  • Using an ice cream scooper mold the cake and icing into a ball.
  • Melt the red & brown  Wilton melts according to the directions on the package.
  • Using two spoons, one with the cake ball resting on it and the other to cover the ball with the melted candy, complete the candy coating of the ball.
  • Set the wet cake balls on a cookie sheet lines with parchment paper to dry.

Makes about 20 cake balls depending upon the size of your ball.

  1. Hi Christa, you could make this easier by purchasing something red to fill the jar with. I personally would love a jar filled with Lindt chocolates and they come in a red wrapper. If your parents like gum you could fill the jar with red gumballs. If they like candy, how about red cherry sour balls. I hope this helps!

  2. I am trying to find something I can do for my parents as a christmas present and I’m finding nothing! I think thar you should put up something easer.I am not saying that it was not a good idea but maybe you need to put up something for those like me!
    Thank you a lot. Christa
