Hello! My name is Kristen Duke and I blog at Capturing Joy, I’m so delighted to be here today to share a fun kids craft. I’ve got 4 kids myself, and I love planning fun activities to do with them over the summer to create meaningful memories.guest button small

Besides mommy hood, I’m a photographer/blogger/author from Austin, Texas sharing how I capture the joy in life from family recipes, decorating with pictures, fancy parties, home projects, photo tips to sharing some life stories. I also have 2 books to help you take better pictures!

As a photographer, I like to share fun ways for my kids to be a part of something I love–taking pictures! I mean, who doesn’t like to take pictures?  So I thought it’d be fun to put together a picture scavenger hunt for my kids, then print a collage for them to hang and enjoy their handiwork.

You can do this a number of different ways, but we decided to hunt for colors around the house (you can go on location, too). We picked 4 colors from our gameroom because that’s where we planned to hang the collages in the end. Of my 4 kids, they each chose between: red, green, yellow, and blue.

I thought about doing a race to see who could come up with 10 items first, but we didn’t have enough cameras for them to use at the same time, so we did it one at a time. They used my iphone, so the images are not the highest quality. I followed them around with my “big” camera to capture the fun.

I then took the 10 images to my computer, saved them, opened up PicMonkey to make an easy collage, and printed them out.  Here is the collage made for green images:

I thought it would be fun to scavenge another time for shapes, letters, nature, lots of other fun themes. Creating the collage is the  last step for the kids to be able to admire their work, and remember the fun you helped create for them!

I’d love it if you come to say hello on my site, you can also find me on Facebook//Pinterest//Instagram//Twitter//Google +

I am excited to start 30 days of fun crafts to keep kids active and entertained this summer! You won’t want to miss a day of these fun crafts for kids from some amazing bloggers! Please be sure to pay them a visit!
