Hi all! I’m Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings where I blog about sewing, books, recipes, and more. I am SO excited to be here to share a fun Holiday gift giving idea.
I’ve made up a few mini holiday buntings which are a perfect scrap stash busting project and great for both giving as a gift or as decorating gifts. Give it as cute decor or wrap it around a box of Candy Cane Popcorn or your favorite book!
You can make the bunting out of all kinds of fabric combos where your friend can use as decoration or as a fun and reusable alternative to ribbons.
Just cut your fabric scraps in strips the same height that you want your little flags. Mine are around 1.5 inches tall. Then cut your scraps into triangles.
Start with an extra long tail on your sewing machine and sew across the top of each flag. I don’t back stitch since it tends to give the fabric more of a chance to get sucked into the sewing machine. After you sew one flag pull the string a tiny bit and sew the next to form a chain. When you are done leave a long tail.
Use your bunting to decorate your favorite gift or wrap around a piece of cardboard or card stock to give as a fun trim or decoration.
