  1. I haven’t made this for years, and seeing your delicious pictures, it’s brought back many fond memories! Yum!

  2. I have made this cake for years however, I use 1/4 c vodka instead of creme de cocoa and after taking out of pan, I poke it with holes all over and the glaze I use is 1/2 c powdered sugar and 1/4 c kahlua and brush it on cake so it soaks in–very moist, serve with whipped cream–call it a Black Russian Cake.

  3. I still have about a 1/2 gallon of homemade Kahula that I made to bottle as Xmas gifts. Looks like you have given me a delicious idea to use up some very aged liquor!! YUM ☕

  4. This sounds so good. My husband use to make Kahlua and it was a lot cheaper that way:)

  5. This is one of our beloved family recipes, as well! We jokingly refer to it as “booze cake” (yes, we know the alcohol burns off in the baking), though we should probably be calling it “baby cake” since somehow, someone always ends up pregnant after having it! LOL!

  6. I have the cake in the oven as I type this. While looking over the directions for the glaze I don’t see anything about adding the melted butter in. I don’t want to add it if I’m not supposed to.

  7. Would be great for you guys to have a Print feature…you have everything else! Thanks!

  8. I think I’ll make this for Father’s Day. I bet my husband will love it! Thanks for sharing!

  9. My mom makes one similar, but she uses a fudge cake mix and no glaze. Just powdered sugar on top. If she’s making it for me she adds chocolate chips and walnuts. They’re so good! I’ll have to try it with the yellow cake mix one of these days.
