Hey guys, Vanessa here from Our Thrifty Ideas. I’m so excited today to share this tutorial with you.  My kids have absolutely loved it, and so we know have the supplies on hand at all times for when they come up with a new idea for a superhero. The best part of this, the kids can be whoever they want. My kids have been “Super bathroom girl” “Super power boy” “Super grass kids” and so much more! It seems like every little thing will spark a new superhero and they need a new mask. They are super simple to make and bring out so much imagination that I love making them with the kids.

Supplies:

  • Craft foam ($.50-$1 at Walmart)
  • Scissors and chalk or anelectic cutting machine like a Cricut or Silhouette
  • Hot Glue
  • Elastic Cord

I used my Cricut Explore machine to cut the foam. You can too using THIS LINK to get my same cuts. If you don’t have a cricut, don’t worry. Just download THIS PAGE with a mask template. This will fit most kids. It’s approximately 4.5 inches wide. Just trace the mask with your chalk (so it wipes off) then cut it out. If you don’t want to cut the side holes, you can use a good hole punch.

Tie the elastic cord to one end of the mask. Then measure it around their head and add about an inch to give yourself room to tie it to the other end. Then let your kids take all of the shapes (buy the stickers from a craft store, or cut your own from more craft foam) and place them where they want on the mask.

Then using the hot glue, you attach them in place.

  1. I don’t have a cricut either and am happy to say that the template worked for me. When I clicked on the link, I got a page showing a small mask, pic of child wearing it and the direction. BUT don’t stop there, when you click “Print” the mask does print on a separate page all by itself, full size.

I had to change the orientation to landscape and had it only print page 1. Other wise you get 3 pages showing mask and directions. Hope this helps!

  2. how cute!!
don’t have the cricut….the link to the “template” doesn’t work.
i’ll check back and see if it is fixed!!
    have a lovely day.
