Crochet Gingerbread Christmas Stocking

Crochet Gingerbread Christmas Stocking

I crocheted my very first Christmas stocking for myself just last year and wanted to give it a delicious makeover by turning it into a gingerbread stocking! You could whip up a couple of these and throw a stocking-decorating party, using “candy” toppings like sparkle pompoms, big rhinestones, colorful buttons, t-shirt paint, embroidery, or small holiday ornaments!

How to make a Crochet Gingerbread Christmas Stocking

Materials List

  • Crochet Hook, size I/5.5mm
  • Red Heart® Super Saver® in White
  • Red Heart® Super Saver® in Warm Brown
  • scissors or yarn cutter
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • optional: pompoms, rhinestones, buttons, or anything you want to represent colorful candies, plus fabric glue or hot glue to attach them

Gauge

Gauge is not essential in this project, but I would stick with a worsted weight or chunky yarn.

Abbreviations

ch(s) = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together
rnd(s) = round(s)
sc = single crochet
sc2tog = single crochet 2 together
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
[ ] = repeat what is inside the brackets the number of times indicated

Notes

– You will work Stocking starting with the toe and working upward.

– Except the Heel, you will be joining each round, and also turning after each round. This helps keep the seam in one straight line.
