Tissue Paper Color Transfer Wall Art

This project caught my eye over on the Fiskar’s site. I was instantly drawn to the color and of course the hexagons! Don’t we love all things hexagon?

I couldn’t believe that making a beautiful piece of wall art could be done with tissue paper and I had to try it!

  • Bleeding Art Tissue Paper
  • Canvas
  • Paper punch
  • Water
  • Foam brush

I’m not sure if regular tissue paper will work. You want a tissue paper that will bleed the color. I had a heck of a time finding it, until the nice folks at Michaels told me this would work. I thought I’d try the hexagon paper punch, but you can certainly just cut any design you want to work with.

Tissue Cut outs

Since I had decided to try the punch, I cut several colors and pieces. Do yourself a favor and cut out more than you think you’ll need.

Spritz, Place, Spritz

Once you have your tissue ready, spritz your canvas with water, then paint the water across to evenly distribute.

While the canvas is wet, start placing your tissue pieces where ever you want them. Since I’m kind of a “fly by the seat of my pants” kind of girl, I didn’t pre-plan my design, but you may want to.

Once I had all my pieces laid out, I gave them a fine mist spritz of water so they were all evenly wet. Tissue Paper Color Transfer Wall Art on Canvas | Easy DIY Craft idea | Find more creative ideas on TodaysCreativeLife.com

Dry

I placed it outside to dry, which didn’t take long at all. In fact, all my tissue pieces had blown off, showing my stained canvas.

Isn’t that fun?

I can’t wait to try it again, using strips, circles, or maybe even cover the entire canvas.
