Hello Skip to My Lou fans! I’m Jamie, the mom behind hands on : as we grow where I share fun activitiescrafts and art projects I do with my three boys.

I am so excited to be here and to share  this fun wind chime crate to be a part of the Fun Crafts for Summer series here!

We love to make window decorations, they always brighten up the room and are so cheery! Perfect for summer!

This is a fun nature suncatcher that was inspired by our heart garland we made for Valentine’s Day, mixed with our nature suncatchers.

To make these nature suncatcher garlands, you’ll need:

  • Contact paper
  • Scissors
  • Marker or pen
  • Items from Nature
  • String (we used hemp cord but yarn works too)

This activity starts out by exploring in the backyard. A favorite of my active boys.

We looked for small items in nature, small leaves, flowers, or even the petals of the flowers. We kept an eye out for anything with color!

You could definitely make this part an entire activity in itself and do a scavenger hunt for certain colors, textures, or shapes. We always love a good scavenger hunt, and nature ones are classic!

Then the boys made a nature collage using the contact paper to hold them in place.

I first traced circles onto the contact paper to give the kids some guidance to place their nature items.

If you need it, you can get the full details of how we made the collage part on hands on : as we grow where we also made these into suncatcher wind chimes that are just stunning in the morning sun.

We cut out the circles and hung him in the window!

Some circles need a little tape help to hold them together in spots.
