I got a sneak peak of a new line of craft supplies from Michaels called Raw Bar. Raw Bar is a line of products made of or accessorized by materials inspired by nature. Surfaces and textures include: burlap, cork, chalk board, wood, metal and canvas.I think you will love them! I read somewhere that burlap was on it’s way out. Well I just got back from five days at the Atlanta Gift Market and the showrooms were loaded with burlap. You will be able to stay on trend and craft away with these fun new products. From a metal and chalkboard labeled container to cork ribbon and burlaps frames there is some good stuff coming your way on August 8th to your local Michaels store!

Michaels and Skip to my Lou

Michaels asked me to come up with a craft using a few of the supplies.  I took the burlap canvas and some darling little spools and created a jewelry holder.

Burlap Jewelry Holder

It only takes a couple of steps to make this necklace holder. Attach the small spools to the bottom front of the burlap canvas with #10 by 1 1/2″ picture frame screws. These screws are threaded on both ends.

Screw four spools along the bottom front.

Cut a heart out of burlap and begin gluing buttons. Buttons can also be directly glued to the canvas.

Continue until you have made a heart. A monogram would also be cool!

  1. It would really be COOL if earrings could be stored in the holes of the buttons, actually that would be earrings on wires!
