Clear Vinyl 8 gauge (10 1/2 inches wide by 19 inches long)
1 – 9 inch zipper
1 – 3/8 inch grommet tool kit
How to make a Scotch® Duct Tape pencil bag
Cut a piece of vinyl 10 1/2 inches wide by 19 inches long. Clear vinyl can be found at large fabric stores or big box store that sells fabric.
Center the zipper right side up along one end of the vinyl. Place one strip of colored duct tape along the top side of the zipper catching the vinyl and zipper. Avoid the zipper teeth.
Place another piece of colored duct tape slightly overlapping the edges. Slightly lift the edge of the colored duct tape and place a piece of dry erase tape. Place three more pieces of dry erase tape slightly overlapping the edges. After placing two strips of colored duct tape and four pieces of dry erase tape trim sides to match edge of vinyl.
Cut a strip of colored duct tape in half. To make cutting easier place tape on freezer paper to cut.
Fold down the zipper where the two pieces of colored duct tape overlap. Fold up the opposite end of the vinyl. Lay it next to other side of the zipper. Place the piece of tape that was cut in half on top, securing the zipper to the vinyl.
Here is how it should look from the side.
Now place a pieces of duct tape on each side. Place the piece of tape half on the side of the pencil bag.
Cut a small rectangle out of the corner……..
then fold the tape to the other side.
In the same way place a piece of tape along the bottom and on the other side. Again cut out the small rectangle before folding to make meat corners.
How to install grommets
Measure over 1 inch from left side and 1/2 inch down from top edge and mark. Place pencil bag next to three ring binder to mark remaining two holes. Make sure all three holes are 1/2 down from top edge.
Following manufacture instructions for grommet tool, punch a hole at each marking.
Place grommet through hole.
Turn bag over and place ring onto the grommet.
Use grommet tool to bend then grommet over the ring.
Fasten the pencil bag into a three ring binder. Fill with pens and pencils and don’t forget…
to do your homework!
