Romantic Candelabra from My Repurposed Life

Hello Skip to my Lou friends!  I’m gail from My Repurposed Life, and I’m so happy to be here to share this easy repurpose with you. Today I’m going to show you how to repurpose an unwanted, or thrift store chandelier into a romantic candelabra.  I’ve made several of these and they are fun and easy to make.  They look great outdoors hanging in a tree or on your patio.  Use LED candles, and you have a sweet lighting source for indoors.

How to Make a Candelabra

Let’s get started!

What you will need:

  • Chandelier
  • Wire cutters
  • Pliers
  • Primer
  • Paint
  • Rope
  • Hot glue gun

repurpose brass chandelierThis is a thrift store find. I got this chandelier at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for $15.

dismantle a chandelierThe first thing you will need to do is to dismantle the light bulb holders by snipping the wires so you can unscrew the piece.

paint a chandelierReassemble your chandelier  and use primer to give it a base coat.

glossy black chandelierSpray paint your chandelier the color of your choice. I used a glossy black spray paint.  I’ve made many of these candelabras, and left them plain.  I decided to dress this one up a little.

wrap a chandelier with ropeI tested out rope and jute to see which I liked best.  I decided the thicker rope looked better.  You can use rope, jute, yard, string, or something else depending on the look you’re going for.  Carefully wrap your chandelier with rope and secure the top and bottom with hot glue.

Thank you so much Cindy for allowing me to share my project today.  I hope I’ve inspired your readers to think outside the box.
