Hi, I’m Stef, from Girl. Inspired. and I am absolutely thrilled to share some thoughts and ideas for teacher appreciation here today.  Back before I decided to be a stay at home mom, I worked as a behavioral consultant for children with autism for many years.  That field of work was incredibly fulfilling and also, very demanding.  Although I wasn’t a classroom teacher, I did a lot of teaching and it always meant SO much to me when the parents of my beloved students took just a moment to say “thank you.”  I think the most important thing to consider, when showing someone your appreciation, is to stop and really think about what will make that person feel seen and feel appreciated as an individual.  Whether you know the interests of your child’s teacher and can gear a gift toward that, or whether you don’t know much about that teacher’s life beyond the classroom door, I think you can still give a gift that says, “Thank you for taking the time out of your day to teach my child.”

Today, I have a simple, but beautiful idea to package a gift to say thank you to anyone.  I filled a clear pitcher with a pile of fresh lemons from my garden.  Then, I tied a pretty bow around the whole pitcher so that I could attach a cute little envelope with a note and gift card for a housewares store.

Gift cards are becoming a convenient and versatile gift to give, but presenting it with some homegrown love and a pretty arrangement is my way of showing that I really took the time to package something that would bring a smile to the recipient’s face.

This gift could be changed up in a number of ways – maybe you’d like to fill the pitcher with apples or iced tea ingredients.  Instead of a pitcher, you could use an apothecary jar filled with cookies or nail polish.  Instead of a gift card to a housewares store, your child’s teacher might like a spa day or cooking classes or a gift certificate to a restaurant.  However you choose to package your gift, be sure to include a personal, hand-written note that says thank you.  Thank you for all that they have done and all that they do each day to teach our children.

I’d love for you to stop by Girl. Inspired. and say hi!  Thanks so much for having me today, Cindy!  I love seeing all of these creative ideas – this series is awesome!
