Pie on a stick

Cake pops move over! There is a new dessert on the block, pie on a stick.  Not only is it yummy, it is supper fun to make. It kept these two  busy for quite awhile!

These pops do take some special supplies. We used a new tool from NordicWare called a pastry pop maker. We also used sucker sticks refrigerated pie crusts and pie filling.

How to make pie on a stick

Unroll pie crusts and use the back side of the pastry press to cut the circles.

The package of dough will make about 20 pastry pops.

Place one circle of dough in each of the cavities on one side of the  press. Brush the dough with beaten egg white.

Place 1 Tablespoon of pie filling in the center of each dough round.

Place sticks in the center of each cavity so that the stick is centered in the middle of the filling.  Place a dough round on top of the filling.

Close pastry pop press, pressing firmly to seal edges.

Open up press and gently remove pops.  Extra dough can be trimmed away. We just folded it to the back.

Place pastry pops on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Brush pastry pops with the egg wash to give them a golden brown look once baked.  I also think a sprinkle of sugar would be nice.

Bake at 400 degrees for 12-16 minutes until golden brown.

They are super yummy!  I bet you would like one!
