I am totally thrilled to welcome Kayla back to Skip to my Lou. You may notice she has become a favorite guest poster and I want to thank her for sharing her talents here so often! She has something special today for you, and believe me it is great. Thank you Kayla.

Hello everyone! Its hard to  believe that it is already halfway through January! My name is Kayla from SayNotSweetAnne.com and I have been waiting MONTHS to share this today! Thanks so much to Cindy for inviting me. I am so excited, and I hope to brighten everyone’s day just a little. I’m a graphic designer by day, blogger by choice. My blog covers an array of fun things like crafts, recipes, and LOTS of printables. I’d love for you to visit me at my blog, on Facebook or Twitter!

  • 365 days all numbered
  • Major holidays highlighted
  • Weekly blog and social media tracking
  • Weekly to-do lists, project ideas & notes.
  • Pages for contacts & username storage
  • 5 awesome colors!

This planner is something that I have poured a huge part of myself into. You see, I’m a Graphic Designer slash typography nerd slash paper nerd slash craft blogger. So, when I couldn’t find a planner I liked at the store, I decided to make one myself. Using my Graphic Design magic, I made it with all of the days of the year numbered, and with Holidays highlighted. I printed it, had it bound, and use it every single day. (All 12 of them so far this year)

Then I put them up on my website so everyone could have an awesome planner FOR FREE. (Goodness, I am just dripping with awesome right now. Getting it all over my computer.)

But for this post, I had to do something even more special.

I made a Skip To My Lou version! Look Familiar?

The blog portion of the planner allows for social media and post tracking, as well as taking notes and writing down project ideas and to-do lists.

But don’t worry, for those of you who don’t blog, or are looking for a different color or pattern, I’ve got 6 colors to choose from and its available with notes pages, without notes pages, and as a regular planner! There’s one for almost everyone, and if you need something a little more *you* – check out the custom options available in my Etsy Store!

Oh, and did I mention we’re giving away TWO FREE CUSTOM PLANNER FILES!?
That’s right! Choose your background and cover title and I’ll work my magic to make one JUST OR YOU! Just comment here about what helps you get organized!!

Ok, ok. So you’ve got your super-duper awesome planner all picked out. What now?

What You Need:

  • Printable File.
  • Printer
  • Cover and Backing (The shop I went to had clear portfolio covers and solid backs as part of the binding options. You could easily use transparency paper, cardstock or chipboard or even steal the cover from an old planner!)
  • Avery 16281 Multi Colored printable tabs. They come with a bunch of colors, I just used the teal. I’ve seen others have great success with just plan white that you buy pre-printed.
  • Copy Shop

How To Make It:

  1. Download the file you want.
  2. Print the file double sided on a nice paper. The cheapo copy stuff will work, but you might see through a bit. There’s nothing special about it- its just like printing a double sided presentation booklet! If you have to take it to a copy shop to print- make sure you call ahead. Some of them are charging a pretty hefty price for color prints!!
  3. Take the whole kit and kaboodle to a copy shop. (I went to Staples.) If you like, punch it and put it in a binder and skip to step 6.
  4. Ask the clerk  for a Wire-O binding, or a Twin Loop binding. If you can’t get Wire-O or Twin Loop, ask for spiral. Whatever you do, don’t get Comb Binding- it just won’t last.
  5. Print your months onto some Avery tabs using Lobster as the font. The tabs even come with a handy spacing guide to make sure you place your tabs evenly. All in all this took me about 5 minutes.
  6. Done!! Get to tracking, planning and to-doing!

I use the tracking each week, putting how many likes/followers etc I had on Sunday, and at the end of the week, how many I had on Sat. That helps me to see if posting more is creating any trends, etc. I use the notes pages to take meeting notes- that way I always have them with me.

The planner even has a “For Next Year” section in the back, for those long term appointments or goals that you need to remember to transfer into your 2014 planner. Speaking of 2014. You will come back and see me when you’re in need of another planner- right? ♥

To keep in touch and see when I publish my free “blogging tasks bookmark” (to go with the planner) or for more crafts (Like my Two Ingredient Heart Soap) as well as some really great DIY printables (like my Mommy bucks printable tear-off Coupons) and recipes (Like my Caramel Praline Celebration Fudge) don’t forget to stop by and visit me at SayNotSweetAnne.com!

  1. That is so awesome !! Thank you!! I keep organized by having different color post it strips for each member of my family next to my calendar. whenever someone has something to do I put the time and where and stick it on the date. it works pretty well

  2. I love lists too, and like to keep them broken up in to categories. My next goal is to write down time estimates by my items so when I have a little chunk of time I can tackle something that will fit.

  3. How awesome would it be to have a planner that matches ur blog?!!!! You, my Dear Kayla are GENIOUS!! Yes, I WAS singing that word!! 4. I used to use a palm years ago, it was nice because it was in my computer and also printable! Now I just use an online calendar/planner that sends me a text when there’s an appointment scheduled. Everyone in my family can log on and see appointments or add appointments of their own. I also have a box for that paper pile. When the box is full it means I have to file and sort!

  5. I keep one notebook that I write all my lists and to-dos in. That way I have it all in one place and can refer back to it.

  6. I have a binder book ( about 5 x 9 size ) that zips around all sides..and I can put a yearly planner inside…and I also keep some bill reminders and social activities on my google calendar online,..which transfers to my phone.
One of these planners would fit in my binder book!! =)

  10. Having a larger planner by my telephone and a smaller version in my purse has saved me many hours and miles on my car. I needed to be connected to my planner while away from home. Love your ideas.

  11. My planner helps me stay organized, but I have been looking for one to keep track of all my blogging stuff..and this just seems so perfect! I also try to post on linkies on certain days of the week so I keep that in mind when planning my posts for the week. Link ups equal more page views!! 🙂
