Hi there! I’m Elizabeth from Sew Chatty and I’m so happy to be visiting here at Skip to My Lou today!

I’m sharing a fun little Christmas ornament with you that is fast and simple to make, but super cute too!

Supplies Needed:
small hoop
fabric scraps
basic sewing supplies
hot glue gun

Here is the step by step:
1. First make your patchwork piece by sewing as many or as few strips together as you’d like. The pieces I used were all about 2.5″ wide and about 6″ long. Just make sure your finished piece is large enough to cover your hoop.
2. Wrap the outer piece of your hoop with fabric strips to cover it completely. My strips were about 1″ wide. Use your hot glue gun to secure the fabric to the hoop every few inches.
3. Place your patchwork piece over the bottom hoop and place the fabric covered hoop on top. Tighten the screw and trim any excess fabric hanging from the hoop.
4. Lastly, take another scrap of fabric about 12×1″ and loop it through the opening where the screw is.

Such a simple project, but so festive and cute! You can embellish these ornaments lots of different ways with fabric or felt flowers, yo yo’s, buttons…so many possibilities! I know these will look great on the tree, but they would be fun as mantle decorations in all sizes too! I can’t wait to make more!

Thanks for letting me visit with you today!

  1. Thank you so much. I am going to be making a group of three of these so my dd has something to hang on the walls of her flat (aka apartment)
