Homemade Postcards {Craft Camp}

I am excited to be offering 30 days of fun crafts to keep kids active and entertained this summer! You won’t want to miss a day of these fun crafts for kids from some amazing bloggers! Please be sure to pay them a visit!

Hello Craft Campers! I’m Heather from The Sewing Loft and I am super excited to share with you an easy summer craft that will clean out your scrap basket!

My girls love to exchange snail mail with friends and family! And truth be told, I’m not sure which they are more excited about- the card or the note. But either way, this simple postcard craft is perfect.

Materials:

  • empty cereal boxes
  • fabric scraps
  • Mod Podge
Tools:
  • foam brush
  • paper plate to hold glue
  • plastic table cloth for mess protection
*Tip- Mail is pretty restrictive on size so, be sure when making this project you keep within the maximum size measurements of 4 1/4″ x 6″ by 1/4″ thick for a standard postcard.

Basic Instructions:

  1. Pull out your scrap basket and separate all those really small bits from the larger pieces. We will only need the small stuff for this project!Fabric Postcards
  2. Next, place a table protector down. Think plastic table cloth or large scrap of cardboard.Fabric postcard
  3. Paint some Mod Podge on the printed side of cardboard and place fabric scraps as desired. Have fun here, overlapping to create a fun mini quilt outlook. Once all scraps are in place, add another layer of glue. You are now officially decoupaging with fabric. Super simple. fabric post card how to
  4. Allow glue to dry, cut away any over hanging fabric bits and packaged them together with a long thin scrap of fabric. Or address them right away and send them out into the real world.Fabric Postcard

My girls could not wait to send them out. We have post cards making there way to several states and continents. Hoping for some fun mail in return!

Wishing you a fun filled and creative summer!
