  1. so can you just use old socks instead of nylons because i have more old socks than old tights… i’ve been trying to grow my hair out and ive been trying to do it with no heat to make my hair healthier too so ive been looking for hairstyles like this! this is perfect. i just hope i can use old socks.

  2. What a great tutorial. I am not great with doing hair but I really think I could do that with my daughters hair.

  3. My mom used to put my hair in rags, too! It was the only way to get the curls to stay longer than half an hour without half a bottle of hairspray. And the finished style? That’s how I wanted my hair for prom but the hairdresser made it in twists instead, flat against my head. I was sad 🙁 So thanks, now (a decade later) I can style my OWN hair that way 😀

  4. I REMEMBER MY MOM DOING THAT TO MY HAIR ,I HATED IT BUT NOW SINCE MY MOTHER HAS PASSED , I WISH SHE COULD DO MY HAIR AGAIN. I LOVE YOU SITE !!!

  5. I loved this tutorial! I have photo’s of me when I was a little girl with rags in my hair. Brings back a lot of memories! Thank you for sharing.

  6. This tutorial brought back memories of when my girls were little (in their late 40’s now). I used to set their hair in rags all the time. I learned it from my mother in law who learned it from her mother.

  7. Oh my goodness! That takes me back. My mother always set my hair in rags when I was a child and I, in turn, set my daughters hair in rags, She absolutely hated the curling iron and wouldn’t stand still long enough anyway! Love the curls!

  8. It brings back memories of my grandmother doing my hair. When it was dry and we took the “rags” out, I would have Shirley Temple curls. Thanks for the memories. Your daughter’s hair looks wonderful.

  9. I love your how to videos. You do a GREAT job and have tryed many of your styles on my own princess. Would like to take this chance to say Thank you for what you do.

  10. OMGoodness! We did that back in the late 60’s, early 70’s only we just tore up old bedsheets or cotton fabric. We called them rag rollers. We liked that they were easy and comfortable to sleep on.

I guess everything old is the new new!
