- Glue
- scissors
- googly eyes
- Embellishments (glitter, bits of paper, stick-on jewels, etc)
- Lollipop (Tootsie Pop, Blow Pop, etc. – anything round for the head)

TIP: If you prefer not to print a whole swarm of butterflies, print one butterfly on heavy cardstock and use it as a template. Kids can use the template to draw around and cut one out of construction paper and add their own special messages. This can be a fun Valentine’s Day butterfly craft.
How to make a butterfly Valentine
Download the Butterfly Valentine, print on colored card stock, cut out, make slits for the sucker, add some decorations (cut-out shapes of paper, stickers, glitter, etc.), insert the sucker, and then add some wiggly eyes to the top of the sucker. You could even add a small piece of pipe cleaner for the antenna. Add a piece of tape to the back to keep the sucker securely in place. How easy is that!
Lollipop Valentines
Whether you call it a lollipop or sucker you can use Tootsie Pops and Blow Pops to make some clever Valentines that are sure to be a hit!

Hi,
Thank you so much for this adorable printable! My only suggestion is to take off the pink border. While it looks cute, it is such a waste of precious ink. We’re very happy with the butterflies though. 🙂
You can fit four to a page but you have to cut them out and scan them. Worked fine for me and saved lots of card stock. My problem is getting the lolli-pops in without tearing the paper. Think I need to cut my slits bigger… Cute craft. My [pre-k] daughter is super excited to decorate them.
Super cute and easy enough for the kids to make!
VERY CUTE AND THOUGHTFUL. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THESE INTSTEAD OF STORE BOUGHT VALENTINES. I COULD USE THIS NEXT YEAR!! VERY CUTE AND THOUGHTFUL V-DAY TREAT.
When I printed mine, I got extra lines on the body
Arg, I hate waisting ink and on my new computer the programs don’t just let me delete the unnecessary and fit as many butterflies on a a page as possible, you could probably fit at least 3 on a page without the writing! Tried for an hour, now just resigning to waste my pretty paper and ink cause I want this! It’s cute, but could be more practical!
We are going to try the rockets for my grandson’s Mother’s Day Out class!
Great craft. To avoid the extra lines when printing, right click on the image, then select save. This will download it in Adobe on your desktop; print from there no problem.
Thank you !!!
Thank you so much. The Butterfly is perfect as my PreK class is called, “The Butterfly Class.” They will love them. Thanks again for sharing.
Cute!
When I printed the butterfly I got extra lines on the body.
Very cute idea. Occasionally when I see cute things like this it makes me want to teach younger grades 🙂 I’m sure I could do this with my grade 8s with some success too though. hrmmm…
Thank you!
thanks for this cute idea! i am going to use them for my daughter’s class valentines 🙂 Many many thanks, you are so talented.
