Fabric Flower Tutorial

This fabric flower hair clip is super quick to make and super cute!

Fabric Flower Supplies

Scraps of fabric (I used a heavier weight cotton), scrap of felt, 3/4 inch covered button kit, hair clip

How to make a fabric flower

Download template and cut out fabric pieces. Cover one button for center of flower.

Fabric Flower Template

Gather straight edge of petal piece and hot glue to felt piece.

Continue gluing petals to felt circle until all five petals are attached.

Clip slits all the way around the edge of the center circle piece. Hot glue center circle on top of petals. Next, hot glue covered button to center of flower.

Glue the fabric flower to a hair clip, head band or pin back.

Finished!

LOVE this flower! I’m headed to get fabric today (my Walmart is carrying fabric again! Hallelujah!!) and I’ll be sure to keep this in mind!

I’d love to spend one hour in the creative part of your brain. I think I’d have enough inspiration to last me the rest of my life.

I’ve made a lot of fabric flowers for hair accessories, but I’ve never seen a flower like this. I can hardly wait to make these with my daughter. It will be such a fun change from the ones we’ve been making. Thank you so much for posting a tutorial, your directions are so easy to follow.

What a beauty…Love it! Having trouble finding “blank” barrettes…love yours! Walmart too? Are they in the craft section? Our Walmart is “expanding” to get groceries (FINALLY!) and I am hopeful that we will sell crafts and fabric too—have to wait until 2012 to find out though!

I am going to run out of ink in my printer cartridge if I keep printing out all these wonderful tutorials. Want to make some fabric flowers to see what I can do with them.
