It is no secret that we love snow cones around here!

This time we tried these super strength flavors for our snow cone syrup. Using these flavors opens a whole wide world of flavors. The variety is amazing!

We used our normal snow cone syrup recipe, but replaced the unsweetened drink mix with 1/2 teaspoon of super strength flavoring.

Snow Cone Syrup Recipe

In a saucepan, stir together the sugar and water. Bring to a boil, and boil for about 1 minute (no longer or it will become too thick once cooled). Remove from heat, and stir in the flavoring (add a few drops of food coloring if you like). Allow to cool and place in a recycled bottle for pouring. Pour over shaved ice to flavor.

Notes:  I did make this using 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. It was fine, but not a syrup consistency. However if you want to cut back on sugar it works.

  1. Oh Marlena I don’t remember, I would say the kids can be quite generous with the syrup so I would allow a couple of tablespoons per snow cone.

  4. I have been running a snow cone stand for a couple years and have tried everything that I could think of to make the colors show up really bright on the snow cones. On some of them like grape for instance the color fades to almost nothing once it is applied to the ice. I have read different things about using food coloring to make the colors brighter and darker. But then I have also seen a video where it stained the customers mouth. I noticed on this site you recommended food coloring and was going to ask you what your input on this was. I would appreciate any advice.
