It is HOT here in Kansas with triple digit temperatures so

this machine is getting a workout…

because we have been eating tons of these!

How to make snow cone syrup

To make your own homemade syrup for snow cones you only need sugar, water and unsweetened powdered drink mix.

Snow Cone Syrup Recipe

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

1 – .22 ounce (these vary in weights by brand) unsweetened powder drink mix

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat to dissolve sugar. Bring to a boil and then immediately remove from heat. Don’t allow mixture to boil for longer than a minute or your syrup will be too thick. Allow to cool. We used a funnel to put syrup into a recycled bottle.

Pour syrup over shaved ice and enjoy!

Thank you so much for this recipe. My grandchildren are going to love it. We in Florida are having very hot temperatures also and this will surely come in handy.

I’m so excited about this. We love snow cones but sometimes it’s hard to find syrup to purchase and then the flavors are so limited. This will be insanely fun!!! Pinning.

It even works with the sugar substitutes that measure like sugar. Did it for my son’s carnival birthday so the moms wouldn’t be hit with sugar overload and the end of the party. Especially with the cotton candy & cracker jack!

In our house as soon as the temp feel like summer and summer vacation is about to start or starts we bring out the snow cone machine and it sits out on my counter (even though it doesn’t match the decor,haha) the entire summer until it gets too cold for snow cones and snow is around the corner

I saw this last year and meant to make them and lost the link (broken computer), I am so grateful for pinterest

These can be made sugar free by using a sugar substitute instead. Try one dram of a flavoring, Lor-ann are great, and the flavor possibilities expand. Bubble gum and root beer are our family favorites!

Sugar-Free Snow Cone Syrup

My husband is diabetic. He loves to make a sugar-free cherry syrup to add to his Coke Zero. This is a good recipe for all flavors of sugar-free syrup.

INGREDIENTS:
2 (1/4 ounce) packages of unsweetened Kool-Aid powdered drink mix
1 1/2 cups Splenda sugar substitute
water (about 3 cups)

DIRECTIONS:
Place Splenda and Kool Aid powder to a 4 cup glass measuring cup. Add water to the 4 cup mark. Stir gently to combine. (Splenda will dissolve very quickly)

Transfer fo plastic squirt bottles. Refregerate and use as needed. To use, just add desired amount in beverage or over shaved ice and serve.

This is perfect! I just told my husband last night that we never use our snow cone maker because I never have any syrup for it. I also just ran across some Kool-aid packets that have been in there for quite a while too. My kids will certainly thank you

Forget the splenda! It’s poison, but if you want a diabetic safe alternative you can use stevia. Some people think stevia has a weird flavor, but if you mix it in bottle and let set over night it looses any “weird” flavor.

Also, you could make a honey syrup with equal parts honey and water. Or better yet, honey and real juice. That gives you an option for a sweet treat to give the kids without all the artificial stuff.

Here in Hawaii we don’t have snow cones, we have shave ice (yes there is a difference-shave ice is much more finely ground). Anywho, I’ll have to try out your recipe. We also put a little condensed milk on ours.
