Silk Tie Dyed Eggs {tutorial}

We had fun this weekend coloring eggs.

I have been wanting to try this process for years after seeing it on Martha Stewart! So we gathered some old silk ties.

How to dye eggs with silk ties

Cut the silk ties apart removing the lining  until there is  enough silk fabric to cover an uncooked egg.

Wrap the silk around the egg tightly. We wrapped it like a piece of candy with twisted ends and then tucked the ends behind.

Make strips from an old sheet or other fabric.

Tie a strip tightly around the egg to secure the silk.

Tie another strip around the egg the other way.

Put the eggs in a non-reactive pan (stainless steel, glass or enamel). Cover eggs completely with water.

Put 3 tablespoons of vinegar in the water. Simmer eggs for 20 - 30 minutes. Ours simmered for 30 minutes.

Carefully remove eggs from water and allow to cool.

Now for the best part. Unwrap the eggs.

It is always a fun surprise to see what you get!

We had fun and they turned out beautifully!

Are you struggling?

My family is struggling with meal planning. Our lack of planning often results in poor meals that are far from nutritious! I used to pride myself on yummy healthy meals. I love to cook and had fun cooking for my family. We rarely ate out and enjoyed meals like this pork tenderloin recipe.

Well, as some of you know I recently opened a retail store, Sweet Baking Supply. I truly never knew what busy was until now. I don't have the time I used to have and our family meals have suffered! Frozen pizza has become our mainstay! YIKES!

Stay tuned next month to read my Genius Tip on how I beat this challenge!
