Printable Gift Bag Topper {Teacher Appreciation}

Hi, I'm Mique from 30days. I live in the (mostly) sunny Los Angeles area with my husband and three cute kids. In addition to being a wife, momma and craft blogger, I co-own a handmade market, the Queen Bee Market in the San Diego area. Our next show is May 6-7th- come visit!
I adore Cindy and was thrilled when she asked me to guest post. Thanks for letting me share my little teacher gift topper here Cindy!

I found the saying for this idea from Cindy's teacher appreciation sayings post. Ready for the easiest teacher gift? Pick up your favorite pack of highlighters and a gift card to a teacher supply store (or anywhere you want). Print out the teacher gift topper. Have your child fill out the back. Adhere topper to the gift bag. And dooooone!

Supplies I used:
colorful lunch bag
highlighters
gift card
scissors
hole punch
twine

Save Time And Spread The Teacher Love!

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming in 3 Weeks! (May 2-6)

Are you ready?

Spread the love but don’t sweat the small stuff. Do you have parties planned, gifts bought and a creative ‘thank you’ in mind? Make your life (OR your room mom’s or teacher appreciation committee or anyone else’s) easier by pitching in and celebrating our kid’s teachers!

The best way to make the week a success is to have MORE… right?

  • More time
  • More parents helping spread the love
  • More APPRECIATION
  • And. LESS. Stress!

This is where VolunteerSpot comes in – it’s a must-have free online coordination tool that makes it easy for more parents to pitch in and help. Anyone can create online sign up sheets and then invite parents to volunteer their time or bring food or supplies. It’s easy to setup and request help – via email or a link on your Facebook page. Parents sign up with a few clicks and VolunteerSpot even sends out automated reminders, easy peasy. And best of all, it eliminates those annoying reply-all emails.

7 Simple Ideas To Get More Parents Involved in Teacher Appreciation Week (Spread the Love Further)!

  1. Organize a lunch break: Invite parents to sign up to bring lunch to your teacher each day during Teacher Appreciation Week.
  2. Set up a ‘Helping Hands’ schedule: In one hour increments scattered over the week, ask parents to sign up to help at recess, supervise lunch, read to the class, pitch-in at math stations and complete prep-work or grading so the teacher doesn’t need to bring work home.
  3. Bring Treats: Find out your teacher’s favorite coffee/soda/snack and take turns bringing ‘surprise’ daily pick-me-ups.
  4. Plan a faculty potluck: Create a breakfast or lunch potluck end-of-the-week party for all the staff. Parents sign up to bring food items, drinks, decorations and special desserts. It’s a great way to get busy and working parents involved because they can each drop-off one item with their children in the morning.
  5. Go Crafty. Bring in hand-made items by you and your kids. (Stay tuned this month to SkipToMyLou for great ideas!)
  6. Bring Love Notes and Flowers: Designate a day for kids to bring in special notes and a day for flowers. Each child brings in one small item making a collective bouquet of appreciation.
  7. Say Thank You: A sincerely written thank you note goes a long way to helping teachers feel appreciated.

We at VolunteerSpot are excited to take part in the SkipToMyLou Teacher Appreciation Ideas! Butter Pecan Cookies

For the past two weeks people have been coming into my shop and asking for vanilla butternut flavoring.

I mean a noticeable and really unusual amount of people. Finally I started asking what they are using it for. Every single person said the same thing--- cookies! One sweet customer gave me a copy of the recipe. These cookies have gone viral!

Butter Pecan Cookie Recipe

from Kathy Studebaker

1 - 8 oz package cream cheese (I used light), at room temperature

1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 egg, room temperature

1/4 tsp Vanilla Butternut LorAnn Flavoring

1 Butter Pecan Betty Crocker Cake Mix

1 package Heath Toffee Chips

3/4 cup pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped

1/2 pound powered sugar

With mixer mix cream cheese, butter, egg, and vanilla butternut oil until smooth and fluffy. Add in dry cake mix. Batter will be slightly stiff. With a spoon stir in toffee chips and cooled pecans. Roll into balls (I used a cookie scoop) about the size of a walnut. Roll balls in powdered sugar until coated. Chilling the dough will make them easier to roll into balls.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Cookies will appear soft. Let cool on sheet for about 5 minutes and the transfer to rack to completely cool. Store in airtight container.

I was curious to see if you could substitute butterscotch chips for the toffee chips. I divided the dough in half and added 3/4 cup toffee pieces to half and 3.4 cup butterscotch chips to the other half. They both were delicious.

I liked the ones with butterscotch, but my family loved the ones with toffee chips. They are soft, sweet and really delicious! I wish I could give you a bite...

My only complaint would be the amount of ingredients. They aren't as easy and budget friendly as chocolate chip cookies,  these super simple cake mix sugar cookies or these cake mix cookies we use to make the best ice cream sandwiches!
