My grandmother taught me to make this when I was a kid. Her recipe is so much easier. For large bowl of popcorn use about 1 to 1and a half cups of powdered sugar in a sauce pan. Add enough water to be able to stir all the powdered sugar into a thick liquid. Not too mush water. Add coloring of choice. Cook on high, stirring the whole time. Cook until liquid boils, keep cooking and stirring, checking for liquid to be at hard ball stage. ( just drop a little in water, and if it makes a ball you are good to go) Pour mixture on popcorn and mix well. Let cool, about a minute, and eat up. I can't hardly get my youngest to wait the minute befor she is eating. It is so easy. Not an exact science recipe like so many of those favorites passed down through the generations. Try it and tweak it to your liking.
