Being Thankful!

Here is a Friday Flashback about being thankful. I am thankful for you dear reader!  Thank you for taking the time to stop by here and see what I am up to! I feel lucky that you share your day with me!

We really wanted a way to help our family to take time to appreciate all of our blessings. This year has been a bit bumpy for us and when you are in the midst of a difficult period often it is hard to realize (and appreciate) the blessings you do have----well it is for us. So while things aren't always how we planned and turning out the way we wanted we still have been blessed and have much to be thankful for.

We took a huge branch from our yard and I die-cut tons of leaves in different colors. Our original plan was every night at dinner for each of us to write something we are thankful for on our leaf and clip it (with those mini- clothes pins I love) to a branch.

I noticed Chocolate on my Cranium is doing a similar activity with her family, except she does one more thing that I think is fabulous. She also focuses on what we do for others. She has made darling printable Thanks and Giving Trees if you want to forgo the tree branch. On one tree you write what you are thankful for and on the other tree you write something you have done for somebody.

So on one side of our leaf we will write what we are thankful for and on the other side something nice we have done for someone.

oops I notice the photo didn't show that my son is thankful for his friends.

By the way--I am thankful for all of you that stop by here each day! You have brightened many days with your sweet comments and even if you don't leave a comment my stat counter says you have been here and that also makes me happy!

How to make a Pilgrim Bonnet out of paper

I am thinking these would be cute at the kids table for Thanksgiving! It could be a simple craft before eating or just have them ready made sitting at each place. I'll have to make the hat for boys later!

Take a large piece of construction paper and cut following the picture.

Fold up the edge without the cuts 2 inches.

Next fold the side with the cute. Fold the middle piece down and bring the sides to the middle. Staple at the top and bottom or run a piece of tape up the back.

Tape or staple a piece of ribbon underneath the fold on the front on each side, making the ties.

Now we have some adorable Pilgrims!

Yummy Candy Coated Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches

Here is a quick treat that would make a wonderful edible gifts for the holidays!

Candy Coated Peanut Butter Crackers

Just a few supplies is all you need to make these tasty treats. I used Ritz crackers, creamy peanut butter, white candy coating and some rainbow coarse sugar (or color of your choice). A half pound of white candy coating will coat at least one dozen cracker sandwiches.

First begin melting the candy coating. Place candy discs in an oven safe bowl. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. When oven is heated turn the oven OFF. Place bowl of candy in the oven for 10 minutes.

While candy is melting make the peanut butter sandwiches. Spread peanut butter between two crackers (tops to the middle) and smooth the sides. You don't need much peanut butter ( I was a little generous ---but if you like peanut butter go for it).

Let the sandwich go for a swim in the candy!

Lift the sandwich out with a fork or tongs. Firmly tap the handle of the fork against the top edge of the bowl to remove extra candy from the cracker sandwich.

While cookies are still wet sprinkle with some colorful holiday coarse sugar. Allow cookies to harden on wax paper. In about 10 minutes you have a sweet treat!

Enjoy!
