I, like another commenter, also add a pkg of instant pudding (try any flavor, it puts some variety in it), 1/2 & 1/2 or whole milk and a tsp bourbon, to replace the vanilla. Try it with completely melted butter, OMG.

I add 2 tbsp 1/2 and 1/2 to my cookies along with a pkg of pudding (any flavor, gives the cookies an interesting twist). Play around and use all brown sugar, its divine.

I made them and just posted on my blog. The flavor is good, love the caramel tones with the walnuts, which I toasted. They're not my fave ccc, but they're good. I like a crispy edge with chewy insides. My fave is a prize winner from Eureka Springs, Arkansas that was published in Southern Living magazine several years ago. Recipe is on my blog and I always go back to it for the crispy edge and soft, chewy insides.

Can I add some cherries? We have many cherries and those will be our main ingredients for our baking recipe. Maybe it is also perfect with your recipe.

You can finely chop the walnuts, small enough that no one will notice them. I put pecans in mine, and I always get rave reviews. The flavor is awesome, people just have something against nuts in things. SO, make them invisible and wallah!
The recipe I use has some spices that are usually not in this type of cookie and they really make a huge difference!

I've been making these for about 40 years now. They are Nestle's Toll House cookies.
