Yesterday it rained all day! It gave us the perfect chance to try our hands at sewing! We made a simple purse out of foam craft sheets.

A Child’s First Sewing Project

We cut simple shapes from craft foam sheets, found some yarn, a tiny hole punch and a yarn needle.

With the two main purse pieces held together, punch all the way around the outside edge. Place handles on purse and punch holes. The holes for a flower embellishment can be punched in the center by folding the purse in half.

Sew the flower to the side of the purse and the handles to the top edge.

Tie the threads together on the back.

Using a double thread, stitch around the outside edge of the two pieces. Start and finish on the inside of the purse to hide ends.

A perfect little purse!

Made by perfect little girls!

  2. I can’t wait to make this with my 5yo dd and 3yo ds. My dd loves doing crafts and I have trouble finding things she can do with me. I am going to modify it for my son so he can make a little briefcase.
