Free Printable Recipe Cards

I am so excited to share these free printable recipe cards that can be customized by you. Yes, that is right -- simply choose a design, fill in your recipe title, ingredients, directions and then print!

This is brand new and we still might have a few bugs. Please give it a try and then give me feedback. If you can think of a way they might be improved, please let me know!

Below are instructions to walk you through the process. Once you are ready to give it a try go to Printable Recipe Cards.

Getting Started

The first step in creating your recipe cards is to select a size. Cards can either be 6″ by 4″, or 5″ by 3″. Two large cards or three small ones will fit on a single sheet of US letter.

If the lower check box is checked, the same recipe will appear on all cards. If not, a different recipe can be placed on each one.

Once a size is selected, click "Next Step" to move to the recipe entry screen.

Editing your recipe

The tabs at the bottom allow quick editing of any part of the recipe card.

Appearance

Use the appearance tab to select a background and layout for the recipe card.

Recipe Information

Enter the name of the recipe, along with the name of the person that created it.

Ingredients

Enter ingredients for the recipe. The toolbar can be used to insert special characters, such as 1/4 and 1/2 measurements.

Directions

Use the directions tab to enter instructions on how to make the recipe.

Printing your recipe

Once all details of the recipe have been entered, use the "next stage" button to move forward. This will either move to the next recipe, or the print preview screen.

At the print preview, clicking the link to the left will display a full size preview in a new window. If everything looks the way you want, just click the print command to create your new cards!

Now you are ready to give the Free Recipe Card Maker a try!

Enjoy!

  2. Sara says:

I just gave it a try and they are great! This will be so handy for sharing recipes with friends when they come over for a meal. It will be so nice to have them printed up ahead of time to hand out. Thanks a million!

  3. Charlotte says:

    These are great!
    Thanks so much.
I was just thinking the other day how badly I needed to purchase some new recipe cards to get my recipe box in order. These will work perfectly & they are FREE!!
I just printed out a couple and it was super easy to do..they look fabulous too!
I will drop back by later tonight, when I have more time and do the rest.
    Thanks again!
    xo

This is great! It saves a lot of time handwriting them down on each card!

Thank you! This is just so useful! :)

Hey ! Am having trouble getting to the yellow style option. Am only able to use the blue. Also. When finished, i can’t figure out how you got to the print page. Help! Am feeling computer challenged and i am usually pretty good!

  6. Allison Farrens says:

These are great! I just tried to print some but it cut off the last part of the directions. Also, “Make it” gets covered by the text. It would be great if they could be 2 sided for longer directions.

  7. Jodie says:

I love this!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

I just tried one and it worked great ecept for the “appearance”. Your instructions show the 2 choices side by side (the one with blue trim around it, and the one with a grean boarder down the left side). But when I am making them and get to the appearance part of making it, mine shows the 2 choices with the blue one, and the green one under it instead of next to it, and it only shows half of the green one so I can’t see the dot at the bottom of it to select it. So I can only choose the blue one. When I tried to use the slider bar to go down, it won’t do anything. Do you know what might cause this?
Thank you again for sharing such a wonderful thing!!!!

  8. Sharon says:

I wasn’t able to choose a design other than the first one. The was not option to scroll to see the second one. Other than that it is a fab idea! I need to revamp my recipies!!!

  9. I tried out the yellow design on a 4×6 format and was very impressed with the results. I felt like I was a professional cook looking at my printed out recipe. :-) Your design is lovely. This is really cool of you to provide us with a free good-looking recipe card maker. I’m going to post something at my blog about it soon.

I have one question: When I printed it at best draft on my inkjet, the type looked greyish. I’d like it to be black. Is that something I need to adjust on my printer?

Thank you very much for this free tool!!!!!

  10. Sheryl says:

I just tried the recipe card print out and I love it! Thank you so much for making this available. I have recently redone my kitchen in green, so your green cards match it! :-) They look so professional too. Can’t wait to get the time, to print out all my recipes.

  11. Lisa says:

Thank you SO much for sharing this…love it! I’ve been trying to find an easy way to this for quite some time, you read my mind :)

  12. Jill says:

I went through all the steps but there was no next stage or print preview button to actually print the cards. It would only let me click on previous. Great idea, though!

  13. Moriah says:

    Look Awesome…..Thanks

  14. Janie says:

This worked great! Thank you!! I buy the 4×6 postcards from Avery and usually print my recipes that way, but these are much cuter!

  15. Britney Anglesey says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE these!!! Thank you so much! These are so super easy, cute, and I love that it’s easy to make them match with perfect placement and everything. Awesome, thanks again. :o )

  16. kate says:

These are great, & super cute! I was, however, in need of a pre-formatted 1/3 cup option…it just didn’t look as pretty and uniform when it was printed on my cards.

  17. Gina says:

Oh this is very cool, love it!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  18. karen says:

Love the reciepe cards! Wish I could get into the other colors though, other than the blue. It printed out great … kind of wish that there was a spelling correction, but I would rather have other colors. Thank you!

  19. You are full of wonderful ideas! I just love it.

  23. Katie says:

Wow this is such a cool and amazing thing! Don’t have time to play around with them now but will definitely later. Cute.

  24. Michelle Dawdy says:

LOVE these! Is there any way to print blank ones- without the recipe directions?
    Thanks!

  25. toni says:

    this is too cute!…
the only think i would have done differently (and i’m not too sure how you would accomplish this on the program), is to allow for a longer listing of ingredients. but as i said i’m not sure how you would do this LOL. it might just have to be a recipe with not so many ingredients ;) .
i used this program to make a copy of my dh’s (late) grandmother’s lasagna recipe as a gift to my sil. she doesn’t have it and i’m giving her this along with the written version (for sentimental reasons).
    thanks again!

  26. I tend to hand write recipes I give away since I enjoy reading the writing of recipes given to me by those I love. That said, this would be awesome when giving something as a gift with a recipe or that sort of thing. I linked on my weekly roundup, post is under my name. Thanks for putting it together!

  27. Oops, that’s what I get for forgetting to check my link before submitting. Corrected one is under my name on THIS post, sorry!

  28. Debby says:

I love these! I must have had a long recipe though, because my ingredients and directions got cut off. :( Maybe an option for font size for longer recipes? I’ll definitely use them for some of my shorter recipes though – it’s SO nice not having to get hand cramps writing out recipes! My only request is more buttons for 1/3 & 2/3!

    Thanks, they’re beautiful!

  29. Katie says:

Love it! Worked great. Text could be a little darker and I agree with the other posts regarding longer recipes. Super idea though! Thank you!
