You can rub a little bit of baby powder or corn starch on the vinyl so that it doesn't stick to the pressure foot of your sewing machine.

Lovely! But I have 2 questions:
a) What is the best type of fabric to use? (Keeping in mind that the tags may get wet and the colour may bleed).
b) Would it be any easier to sew by hand (I'm new to sewing and I'm not too great of friends with my machine!)
Thanks.

Hi there!
I love these!!!
I have one Question: where can you buy Vinyl???
I live in Germany, and i dont beleave we can buy this here, and i would not know under what German name to search for. So is there a place in the US i could order it online OR can you name me a place to buy it and the exact name, so i could send someone to look for me????
(All the people in the US I know, do not sew, and if i tell them, "go get me a pice of Vinyl" they would know what to get me!! :O)
THANK YOU
Best Regards from Germany

I'm really new to sewing, but I'll offer what I can...I found my vinyl before Walmart stopped carrying fabric. I've seen it at my local Hancock, though. I don't have a teflon foot, so I used a piece of tissue paper (like what you stuff in a gift bag) over the vinyl. It's transparent enough that you can see where you're supposed to be sewing but it keeps the vinyl from sticking to a metal foot. After sewing, you just rip the tissue off. I sewed my tags with the business card in it so I could see exactly where to sew.
I made sewed the two fabric pieces first, right sides together with the loop inside, then turned it out and pressed it flat. Then I put my business card centered on the top of the tag, then I laid the vinyl over that, then the tissue. I stitched around the business card except for across the top, leaving access to remove or change the card. Then I edge-stitched around all four sides. As long as your vinyl is a little below the edge where the loop is, your edge-stitching won't catch it, which is how that edge remains open for the card.
I hope I made sense!
Thanks to skiptomylou for taking the time to post the instructions for both versions of the tag!
