Sandy, from Reluctant Entertainer, is here sharing an easy and fabulous gift! What a useful gift for friends and neighbors.
Embellished Tile Coasters
Sandy writes...
Last year when I invited my Balcony Girls into my home, our craft for the day was to make coasters for the holidays. I even got in on the fun myself, and made of list of which friends to give to at Christmas.
The process is so easy! And I found that my friends who received these gifts loved them!
The craft began as we created stamped coasters

Using these supplies
3 ¾” x 3 ¾” unglazed tile
Rubber stamps and ink pads
Felt or cork (sticky sided)
Spray fixative/varnish
The cost per tile was 32 cents from Lowes. Each girl made "4" coasters!
We made fun designs

Spraying, drying and putting 4 felt squares on the bottom

All tied up, ready to give away!

I asked my Balcony Girls to think of grandparents, teachers, music teachers, a neighbor – to keep in mind who they’d want to give this gift to at Christmas!
What I love about homemade gifts is the love that goes into them. And when you're working with young girls, they take the task at hand so seriously!
Giving is a beautiful thing. And that is why I love the holiday so much. Not only do we get to focus on the Giver of Life, it's just way more fun to give than to receive!
Thanks for stopping by today!

I think I’ll be making these! So cute!
A very sweet and easy project!
Wow, this is awesome! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while but didn’t know where to get the tiles and I had not thought of stamping them. Thank you so much for sharing–I can’t wait to try it out!
these are quick and easy. I did them a few years ago.
These are beautiful! Can’t wait to make them for some friends and family for gifts this holiday season. I do have a question about the varnish. Does it come in a spray bottle? If so, what is the brand name and where can I purchase it from? A picture of the bottle would also be helpful.
Thanks again for sharing this wonderful idea!
Hi Sara, the spray comes in an aerosol can – you can inquire about it at the craft store (I’m sure they’ll be able to help you). I loaned my can out, so I can’t get the exact name …
Email me if any more questions! Sandy
Thank you Cindy, for having me here today!
What a neat idea! I have some leftover tiles from a project my husband just finished up! Are you using staz on inks or just regular inks?
what a great idea…and so beautiful and simple. love the personalization factor too!!! thanks.
Love this!!! I had no idea I could make them so cheaply. I’m excited about this idea!

I am very curious. I went to the Reluctant Entertainer’s site…what are/or why are they called Balcony Girls? I love what they represent – could you further explain?
Great idea. I have some tiles in the garage just begging to be picked for this project.
Wow…! They’re so pretty…!
Looks like a great project- might have to try this one!
I love this! I made these this year for some friends but used vinyl! So cute! Thanks for sharing this great stamping idea!

This looks like a very nice project to do – easy and such nice gifts. I’ll have to try it.
This is definately going on my list this year. I might make some for me as well.
What a coincidence! I found a bundle of tiles at a yard sale for like $2 this summer. I stashed them away planning on making coasters to give as holiday gifts! Great minds must think alike!
Can you tell me what kind of ink you used on the tiles? Would SU classic ink work, or do you need to use staz-on or something similiar?
I love the idea and can’t wait to try it!
Oh lovely! Another fun idea! Oh my stockings are going to be FULL of handmade goodies this Christmas! I really like this idea — and the tiles are REALLY only .32 from Lowe’s??? Fantastic!
Where did you use the sticky side cork? It seems that if you cut a piece to fit the bottom of the tile it would give it a professional finish. Would that be possible. Thanks for the great idea!

I told my husband I wanted to make these for gifts, but he said they wouldn’t absorb condensation. What is your experience? Thanks for sharing this great idea!
This is such a great idea! I’ve linked to you over at my site – I’m definitely adding these to my Christmas gift idea list!
Amazing! Will be making for Christmas.Ah…and to think a couple of weeks ago I passed up a huge basket of tiles at a garage sale for $1.00 (so big I didn’t think I could carry it to my car)….
Was your ink the SU classic or the pigment ink? (or will it work with either?)
Went to Lowes this weekend and the tiles were on sale for $0.28 each! This is such a cute project. This is what I am doing for Christmas gifts thsi year.
