I was asked to review the book Crafting Jewish: Fun holiday crafts and party ideas for the whole family. I really didn't know what to expect since I am not Jewish. When it arrived I couldn't stop looking at it.
If I was Jewish I would be inspired with ideas to celebrate each and every Jewish holiday. It really piqued my curiosity about Jewish customs and I loved learning more about the Jewish celebrations. The book is full of beautiful photos, wonderful crafts.
I was also tempted by the recipes from honey cake to easy hamantashen. I found the tutorial on Challah braiding really interesting and I loved learning about the symbolism of Challah bread. On Shappat they serve two loaves of challah to remind them of the two portions of manna that fell from the sky when the Jews were wondering in the desert. The bread is braided to represent the unity of the the Jewish nation.
I gave the One Bowl Carrot cake a go and my family ate it up (even though I over-baked it)!
I think anyone would enjoy this book ---Jewish or not! (but especially if you are Jewish I would think it would become a cherished handbook for celebrating those special customs and traditions). I know there are loads of crafts and recipes I am looking forward to making!

I’m Jewish, and I actually observe Shabbat and celebrate all the holidays in the book. This book looks like it would be amazing for introducing new fun crafts for each holiday. Plus they would be fun to make with my nieces and nephews!
My two boys are from a mixed religious background (my family is Christian and Daddy’s family is Jewish), but since the Jewish heritage doesn’t come from my side of the family I’m not really familiar with all the holidays or what types of fun things we can create for them. I hate always feeling like I’m at a loss for what to do, and this book would be PERFECT for us!
i am not jewish either but my kids preschool teacher is and would love to share with her!
i always appreciate your reviews. This one looks like a keeper! I’ll have to keep an eye out for it!
I would love to win this book. I attended a demonstration by this author and it was super!
great review! i need to keep an eye out for this book.
As an interfaith family–Catholic & Jewish–it can be difficult to find the Jewish side of the holiday crafts. Seems like a great book–love the recipes & crafts in the same book. Thanks for the review.
My kids would LOVE this!
I think the Jewish heritage is very interesting. I like your blogging and your ideas have been very helpful to me.
I am not jewish but this looks like a book everyone should have.
Wow! Your review has me itching to look at another book I have on Jewish cooking and holidays. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy and thank you too for your wonderful blog!
Looks like there are some wonderful ideas in there! Thanks for the chance to win!
That book is absolutely adorable. We need to do everything we can do to promote crafts, sewing, quilting and handmade items for our kids. I am jewish and I wish there was a book like that when my kids were small. We have a tradition of making hamentashen every year on Purim. I got the recipe from my mom and I hope my kids keep the tradition alive as well as their lives continue to grow. They are 19, 21 and 23. Thanks for a wonderful review. Yummy Carrot Bread too!!! Stacey
I would love a new craft book! This one sounds fantastic.
Wow!! I am also not Jewish but my daughter is babysitting for a family that is Jewish and the daughter loves crafting; it would be a great gift for her and looks like lots of fun activities to do with her. Thanks for the info!

I am not Jewish either, but that cover alone would prompt me to peek inside while at the book store (hoping, of course, it’s in the crafts section). I’m always intrigued by other cultural celebrations, and this seems like a great how-to and why-to.
My two daughter-in-laws are Orthodox Jew. I am not Jewish, but would love the book as I am always looking for new ideas on what I can make them besides table toppers, quilts or runners.
It looks like a fabulous book! Thanks for the chance to win!

It looks like a fab book and I would love to get my hands on the carrot cake recipe, I used to have one for a one bowl carrot cake given to me by a Jewish family I lived with in Jerusalem but I lost it somewhere in the many moves since.
