For me I found that if I used acrylic paint it was plastic enough that the dish washing soap didn't make much difference. The dish washing soap is necessary if using tempera paints.

I've found that the paint scratches off easier if you add some dish washing liquid (1 part paint to 1 part soap).

I also use silver paint for the everyday day scratchers... red is very cute for Valentine's day!! :) Great job!

This is exactly what I was looking for! I work with 6th graders. We just finished working with Thanksgiving shopping using sales flyers and decimals. We did a poker chip random drawing for free grocery cards or free food items.
The next plan was for percentages in February. Scratch off discount cards would fit in GREAT with this project. The students will get a big kick out of this. Now to design a card for it.

If you print the text in the same color as the paint, you won't need as many layers to hide it. Terrific idea. I'm going to use it to promote a new program at my church.

Hello! I found your website recently and I have been on it for days!! I have found so many awesome projects that I am so eager to try (if only I knew how to sew!) I think these are the cutest Valentines! However, while reading the directions I thought of a different way to use them. I think they would make perfect "reward" cards for kids. For doing something good they would get a card and scratch off to reveal their reward. Maybe a food treat, movie night, or they could be used in the classroom for a number of rewards. I cannot wait to use these!!!

Thank you for everything you do!!
