A Thanksgiving Plan

It is so easy to just jump ahead and start concentrating on Christmas, but I really want to slow down and appreciate November and take time to be thankful for my friends and family. I still have plenty of Christmas crafts and ways to celebrate but maybe being prepared will help me celebrate both better.

It would be so nice if we all would just slow down and enjoy. Love your table setting.

I am using the Saving Dinner make ahead Freezer plan for Thanksgiving isn’t Leanne wonderful! Love the table also!

I love the tablecloth. I tried to find directions on how to make it… any ideas?

When you click on the picture and go the the Country Living site, I noticed there is a picture of a napkin to make that matches the table cloth. It says:

Napkin Placecard: Practice your script first, then write each guest’s name invisibly: try the Prym Dritz disappearing-ink pen. Immediately trace over the name in bronze, copper, or gold with a medium round-tipped ink marker, such as Uchida’s DecoFabric Marker; michaels.com.

I would think they were made the same way. I hope this helps. I love that table cloth also!

I love what you said about being prepared for Thanksgiving will help you be better prepared for Christmas – or at least that is what I got out of it. I have been thinking this same thing. I want to take the time to be sure to celebrate the things I am thankful for. Especially as a mother, I need to help my kids realize the things they are thankful for as well. This will help us be better prepared for focusing on the most important parts of Christmas.

Thanks for your thoughts! Plus, your table setting is beautiful.

i love the fall. the smell in the air, leaves on the ground, fuzzy socks. it also makes me want to cook and bake. i love homemade cranberry sauce and will actually make a batch as a snack! if you’ve never made it, it is so easy. directions are on the backs of fresh packages of cranberries. i also keep making applesauce, too (recipe on my blog). okay, enough about food! beautiful photo and calming words, cindy lou. thanks! xo

Just ordered a twiced baked potato dish from my son’s high school foods class. It serves 10-15 people and was only $10…What a deal! This will save me much time and stress instead of my usual cheesy potato casserole.

I am going to have the kids make our placemats with brown construction paper and have them draw pilgrims, corn, the mayflower etc. I love seeing kids’ artwork they are so free and uninhibited.

Love the tablecloth and I would love to know how to make it. Does anyone know how to do the frayed edge?

I agree about slowing down and not getting carried away with Christmas, but it’s hard to do. I just went today and bought lots of Christmas ornaments because I’ve got the Christmas decorating bug. However, I will take your advice and get my decorating fix NOW with Thanksgiving instead of rushing Christmas.
