My family and I use to love Geocaching! We even did it while visiting family in Pittsburgh and Niagara Falls. It was so much fun to introduce our families we were visiting to it. It is something we haven't been able to do in a few years as my husband has a hard time getting around these days with his back issues. Hopefully with our new membership to the local rec center he will be up and ready to head out in the Spring!

If you haven't tried letterboxing, you simply must because you will love it. It is very similar to geocaching except you find the letterboxes by following clues, and instead of trinkets, your reward is a stamp in your logbook. The stamps are usually homemade and some of them are absolutely amazing. Plus, you get to make your own personal stamp to add to the letterbox logbook. Check it out at www.letterboxing.org
Thanks so much for all of your great ideas!

Since I am the mom of a Cub scout, and my husband is an Eagle Scout, you would think we would have heard of this website and this totally fun idea! Thanks for sharing, I just went to the website and there are a whole bunch in our town. Now I know what to do with the kids this weekend!
Thanks so much!

We love geocaching. My favorite ones are the book exchanges. I did one in Shanghai once that had three clues before we got to the cache. Good times.

That's soooo fun! Some city/state parks offer geo-caching to their visitors. They might offer lessons, special geo-caching days, or even let you borrow their GPS gadgets. Good for you for having a creative & frugal spring break! I bet your family will never forget it!

This is like letterboxing. I haven't done either but have printed out the clues for my local letterboxing places. I will have to use my dad's geo and try this with my son too.
