or a book titled Weapons With PVC could possibly be my next calling. We have two days left of Christmas break and I am trying hard to not make another trip for PVC. Currently we are making Samurai swords and now the troops are requesting a catapult.

My husband used to do something similar to this when he was a teenager. For a version with a little more safety, you can get a swimming pool foam noodle (the basic round type with a hole in the middle), and slide it over the PVC pipe. It’s a very nice fit. He would then wrap the whole “sword” in duct tape so it would stay together.
The end result is a bulkier sword, and while you can still hurt someone if you’re really swinging hard, you’re a lot less likely to get bruised knuckles and black eyes from normal play.
